Jenni Murray: an inspiration to women

By Amy Siddall

Jenni Murray has become a household name since 1987, when she became the presenter of Women’s Hour in Radio 4. And its not surprising, with her fearless approach to controversial issues and no nonsense opinions on current affairs.

A radical feminist, she has always championed the power of women, particularly in her book The Woman’s Hour: A history of women since World War II. In her performance of Memoirs of a not so dutiful daughter on the 28th February you can expect her to draw upon all her life experiences in order to deliver a witty, yet poignant speech about her relationship with her mother.

She also relates the conflicts to her own adult life and her recent battle with breast cancer.  A favourite with thousands of listeners every week her talk promises to be one of the firm favourites of the festival.
